This work examines the spatial transformation of the city-state of Singapore, guided (for the past 40 years under consideration) by a modernization campaign committed to developmentalism and a systematic break with the colonial past. Chapters look at changing land-use structures in the downtown business core, the development of housing policy, infrastructure as a modernization agent, industrialization as an engine of development, and the development of recreational spaces.
