My mother was vibrant. She was energetic, bubbly and dazzling. She was always on the go. She was never without a loss for words. Then the inevitable happened. She was in an auto accident. She had a "closed" injury to her brain. It affected her sight, cognitive development and speech. Her intelligence was not hampered but her communication skills were nil. Her thought process had slowed down and her verbalization skills were not like what they use to be. She had memory loss! She was giving up! I felt I had to do something quick and in a hurry.I created this picture book. This, task, of course, was to stimulate conversation. My purpose was to provoke dialogue. I started off with pictures of color. She reacted negatively.. So I gray-scaled them and we began taking "baby-steps". Her vocabulary began to grow. And "walla", I am getting my momma back!I am not a doctor. I am only a child of a parent I love dearly that needed some nurturing and something to help her develop (within herself) to continue to fight the good "fight". And, then heal the best she can.I am sharing with you the pictures. Perhaps, you may know of someone who is in the same situation. Perhaps, it's you. When you look at the art and share dialogue with the one you love consider it wrapped in love
