The places created by landscape architect Dieter Kienast - gardens, squares, parks, cemeteries, the grounds of museums, clinics and commercial buildings - have a very distinctive character. The designs by Dieter Kienast unite the contradictions of nature and artificiality, order and chaos, geometrical and organic forms - sometimes austere, sometimes playful, occasionally ironic. The book presents the major designs of private gardens and grounds by Dieter Kienast - the park of the Bad Munder Sanatorium, the grounds of the Swisscom in Bern, the surroundings of the Centre for Art and Media in Karlsruhe, the Furstenwald Cemetery in Chur, the park of the Federal Labour Court in Erfurt, the grounds of Expo 2000 in Hanover and the 2000 International Garden Show in Graz, to name just a few.
