At first glance, the characteristic residential development structures of the post-war period with their generous open, green and street spaces offer great potential for densification. Architects, urban planners, monument conservationists and landscape architects are thus oncresaingly facing the question of how to best preserve the characteristic qualities of ensembles, housin developments or entire neighborhoods despite structural densification. This book presents exemplary densificationcase studies in which elements of the original urban devolpment structure were preserved, as well as densification experiments that showcase the range of renewal possibilities for selected housing developments. These findings are translated into practical strategies and criteria for responsible handling of post-war built cultural heritage. -- Backcover
