This collective volume combines a historical-political perspective on exiles of diverse origins during the presidential regimes of Lázaro Cardens, Manuel Avila Camacho and Miguel Alemán in Mexico with the analysis of different writings in periodicals, epistles and newspapers, as well as with the study of some symbolic representations made by the exiles in literary texts, photographs and pictorial works. This makes it possible to: address the networks that the exiles created during their stay in Mexico and the difficulties they experienced in constituting them; trace the debates and controversies they articulated; to analyze the spaces of sociability in which they coincided; and to highlight the emergence of transnational and, in some cases, transmedial aesthetic configurations, which European, Caribbean and Latin American exiles produced in the literary and artistic spheres - particularly Central Americans - by establishing an exchange with the intellectual and cultural fields of Mexico, during the 1930s and 1940s.
