The Baptists are a world-wide free-church denomination whose theology grew out of the Reformation and which sets its own accents in this framework. Similarities with and differences between the other streams of protestant theology may easily be recognized in this volume of collected studies, as well as the influences of ecumenical theology. Not only the theology of the German-speaking Baptists is considered, but also that of the English-speaking Baptist theologians. These theological accents are self-critically reflected on and further developed. Subjects treated are: bible; justification; local church; church and state. The studies are of interest to members of free churches as well as to theologians from other churches who are interested in confessional and ecumenical studies.
