Hans Rottenhammer became famous as a painter of small portraits painted on copper. After working in Italy for many years, he moved to Augsburg, where he painted commissioned works for members of the Fugger merchant family and a number of German dukes and princes. In addition to portraits, his oeuvre includes altar pieces and ceiling paintings. German text.
