The importance of the Franco-German bond in the nucleus of the European Community has long been evident in every aspect of its activity. This wide-ranging study analyses the Franco-German relationship with the Ten during the decisive period between 1968 and 1984 and focuses on its influence in a number of key areas, notably monetary and economic affairs, trade, agriculture and the Community's own institutional development.
