Contemporary practical philosophy -- along with functionalistic "systems science" -- has failed to understand the critical significance of the systems idea. This study offers a new approach both to practical philosophy (which thus far has remained rathr unpractical) and to ssstems thinking (which has reduced to the systems idea to a tool of merely instrumental, rather than practical, reason).
