
Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language (SMIL) 1.0 Specification details version 1 of the Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language (SMIL, pronounced, "smile"). SMIL allows integrating a set of independent multimedia objects into a synchronized multimedia presentation. Using SMIL, an author can * describe the temporal behavior of the presentation * describe the layout of the presentation on a screen * associate hyperlinks with media objects SMIL enables simple authoring of TV-like multimedia presentations such as training courses on the Web. The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) has designed the Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language. The SMIL language is an easy-to-learn HTML-like language. This book is a printed version of the SMIL specification available from the W3C.
