The struggle to survive while immigrating to the United State and the sacrifices made by Melanie's Yeh Yeh are not unique and is a story that can be told by countless thousands of other seniors of Asian descent. We hope that this book can serve as a reminder for today's younger generation to spend time with their parents and grandparents before it's too late, so they can learn more about their stories of perseverance and the challenges they faced. With the heartbreaking rise of Asian hate, we also hope this book provides a lens into the life of Asian Americans and creates empathy for an often misunderstood and vilified race.
