The content of precious metals in a typical chromite sample was determined by fire-assay procedures with nickel sulphide and lead as the collectors. Tables of comparative results and a statistical evaluation are given. The extent of losses of the noble metals during cupellation at temperatures of 960 and 1300 degrees C was assessed for the sample that was analysed.
