What is behavioural geography? What are its roots, how can it promote our knowledge of human behaviour and of the environment, and what direction might it take in the future? This book sets out to answer these questions. Behavioural geography is based upon the approach known as "behaviouralism", in which explanation for man-environment problems is founded upon the premise that environmental cognition and behaviour are intimately linked, or that the way in which people behave is mediated by their understanding of the environments in which they live or with which they are confronted.
