This Yearbook's main objective is to demonstrate to a world-wide readership how far the international community has come in solving specific environment and development problems, what the main obstacles are to effective international solutions, and what needs to be done to overcome such barriers. The first part of the Yearbook comprises nine articles written by independent experts with in-depth knowledge of particular issues. This year the particular focus of the articles is on climate change. The second half of the book is made up of a reference section which contains systematically listed key data concerning the most important international agreements on the environment and development, and intergovernmental and nongovernmental organizations that are active in this area.
