Part Two Of Two Parts The Lombard family--tight-knit, wealthy, conservative--finds its loyalties split when massacre, terrorism and torture cripple their beloved Algeria. Colonialism is dead--so are a lot of colonials. Jean-Claude, the eldest son, is a brooding introvert, viciously anti-Arab. Emile, passionately liberal, marries an Arab girl and joins the rebels. Paule, their lovely young sister, breaks down under the butchery, while Robert, the soldier, fails his own personal loyalty test.
