Many roadway drainage authorities have developed, over the years, their own methodology in the solution of drainage problems, resulting in a wide variation in sophistication and reliability. recognizing a need for a uniform approach, the roads and transportation association of canada undertook to produce a drainage manual which would reflect current canadian practice with particular reference to transportation facilities. the rtac drainage manual is organized in two volumes. volume 1 covers hydrology and open channels, while volume 2 treats culverts and storm sewers. the solution of typical problems is well illustrated through numerous worked examples.
