This Manual for Program DPLINEAR, written to accompany the authors' book Testing Research Hypotheses Using Multiple Linear Regression (with Francis J. Kelly [Southern Illinois University Press, 19751]), can be used separately as well. The Manual shows in detail how to prepare and run examples of regression analysis using a computer program and how to interpret the computer output. Two example runs are discussed, including: the research hypothesis being tested, the actual data, the computer setup, and the computer results. The advantage of learning to use program DPLINEAR--a double precision multiple regression program--is that most research hypotheses can be tested with this one general purpose computer program. The data generating subroutine permits added flexibility to meet the needs of most researchers. It is estimated that the multiple linear regression technique can answer approximately 90 percent of the research questions in any content area.
