Following the formula adopted by the original author, the late Otto Kahn-Freund, Professor Rudden has revised and streamlined the new edition in ways which should make it even more useful toEnglish students. For the more able student with a good command of French, a wealth of material remains in French, the balance between English and French having been altered to render the book more `user-friendly'.
