Soldier/War to some is only a word without feeling, and to others a feeling of dread instilled upon the soul, rifle given a name to destroy the loneness of a soldier's agony, but in a place where blood is spilt, and death cling to you, there is no reprieve from this nightmare,/Light ignites the sky, lightning others would perceive, but to soldier's dread does he cringe in fear, of the rocket's glare, but for honor and valor does he stand in the eyes of death, oaths sworn does he honor, each time he raises his rifle true,/For death is his gift, by his life others will be spared; grieve not his loss, but honor his sacrifice for the land he loved, and gave him birth; rejoice for this fallen hero, cry him not rivers, but build him monuments within your heart.
