This Guidebook, Exploring the Practice of Entrepreneurship, and its companion assessment will help you build your own entrepreneurial practice. They follow the principles outlined in See, Do, Repeat: The Practice of Entrepreneurship. When used together, the assessment, exercises and suggestions in this guidebook will help you build your practice on the three primary competencies of entrepreneurship. These principles come from more than 30 years of studying and practicing entrepreneurship. After countless research studies, hundreds of interviews and conversations with entrepreneurs from across industries and demographics and my personal experience as an entrepreneur, I wanted to share what I learned. My findings led to some powerful discoveries that, in the end, are quite simple and elegant. First, despite the uniqueness of each entrepreneurial endeavor, there is a common mindset that drives the actions and choices of entrepreneurs. Second, while they all depend upon a common set of abilities and skills to develop these competencies, successful entrepreneurs seek help when they don’t possess a necessary skill or ability. Third, the more they develop their mindset, the more likely they attract others who can fill in the gaps. The research, interviews and experiences began to tell a story of mindset, intention and attraction. From this work, three entrepreneurial competencies emerged. These three competencies then provided a model for creating a learning path for the experience and practice of entrepreneurship that I share with my students and clients and with you in this guidebook. The ability to recognize entrepreneurial opportunities "See". The willingness to act on them "Do". The resilience to execute past failure "Repeat".
