The text is designed for and devotes 75 percent of its materials for teachers of the traditional employment discrimination law offering. Issues under recent laws such as the Americans with Disabilities Act and the 1991 amendments to the Civil Rights Act receive comprehensive treatment. Few other books in the field provide the instructor and student with the same opportunity to tackle the "hard" issues in the field, such as the use of statistics in employment discrimination litigations, disparate-impact challenges to subjective selection systems, release and waiver agreements in ADEA, and the like. The authors have developed materials that give students a more realistic view of the range of the issues that employment discrimination and employment lawyers deal with in litigation involving EEO claims. No other text combines focused consideration of federal discrimination law with the fast-breaking developments in state contract and tort law affecting the employment relationships.
