Dental caries which is very commonly known as “tooth decay” is not a new disease to mankind. In ancient population, evidence of dental caries were found but now a days it has become more significant, this could be because of urbanization of civilization. Dental caries represents a significant proportion of the daily routine for many practicing clinician. Recently we have entered an era where concept of “prevention” has taken place.
