This report provides a summary of the latest statistics on Indigenous health in Australia, including: the context of Indigenous health; various measures of population health status; births and pregnancy outcomes; mortality; selected health conditions; hospitalisation; and health risk and protective factors. Data is sourced from administrative data collections, national surveys, registers for specific diseases and other conditions, regional and local surveys, and the epidemiological literature, and comparisons are included with the general population and between states and territories where possible. In 2018, the estimated Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population was 778,064. Once again, it is clear that, despite some improvements, there are still significant health disparities between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and other Australians.
