This report attempts to address the issue of Aboriginal health workers for Aboriginal communities. The goal of the Canadian Public Health Association was to increase the number of Aboriginal public health workers. The paper addresses a number of issues including: demographics and health status of Aboriginal peoples; labour market issues; numbers and types of Aboriginal health workers; education issues; training issues; recruitment and rention;and strategies for increasing the number of Aboriginal public health workers.
