The aim of the project was to focus specifically on issues associated with the suspension and exclusion of Indigenous Australian students within the schooling system. As each of the State and Territory Reference Groups had somewhat different expectations in terms of the outcomes that they wanted from the research, it was necessary to negotiate an approach which was acceptable to all concerned.
