Max Devlin is an ex-Gurkha officer down on his luck. When his livelihood and business are expropriated by a nationalist government, he finds himself accepting an unusual proposal: to lead an academic expedition into the remotest valleys of Nepal. Devlin and his Sherpas must guide the group of foreign scholars but it soon becomes apparent these are no ordinary academics - in the mountains tensions escalate when Devlin realises it is a clandestine operation. One of the Sherpas is found dead close to the camp. The assignment is compromised, and Devlin's team must rush to complete it, now with the Chinese army in hot pursuit. At the expedition's heart lies a secret that will rock the spiritual and political foundations of the Himalayas. Devlin must see the mission to its conclusion. From the steamy nightclubs of Calcutta to the perilous icy faces of the highest mountain passes, The Dharma Expedient journeys into one of the most beautiful, mystical - and corrupt - places on earth.
