Author Description

The inspiration for "Songs of Divine: Sanatan Dharma Poems for Youth" came from discussing with Hindu teens born or raised in Western countries or abroad. These youths, primarily educated in English or French, have limited knowledge of their Indian mother tongues and struggle with cultural and religious identity. Their exposure to Indian culture and spirituality is minimal, with temple visits being rare, and young parents often too busy to educate them about Dharma. Living in Canada for over eight years, I've observed a demand among families to reconnect their children with Sanatan Dharma, which is less a religion and more a way of life emphasizing peace, equality, and respect. Existing literature either oversimplifies or is too complex for this age group, who are at a crucial stage of exploring their roots and spirituality while engaging with peers from diverse faiths. This book introduces key deities and pivotal events from Sanatan Dharma through engaging English poems accompanied by vibrant AI-generated images. It aims to be accessible, sparking curiosity and encouraging further learning. By using poetry and visual art, the book provides a gentle entry point into spiritual exploration, potentially serving as a catalyst for both children and parents in their spiritual journey.
