Today, more than forty years after the devastation of World War II, refugees remain a challenge to the international community and pose a threat to its order; the millions of worldwide refugees shift population patterns, alter domestic politics and economics, and determine foreign policy. Presenting the work of experts in the field of refugee protection and assistance, this study examines such topics as military attacks on refugee camps, voluntary repatriation, restrictionism in Europe, women refugees, churches and refugees, the future of third country settlement, and future policies and practice concerning refugees.
