This book is the first significant effort to show the world the paintings of OSKAR FISCHINGER, a painter and animator who was born in Germany, but who immigrated to the United States to work in motion pictures. He left as the National Socialists rose. He was already considered a major innovator in animation, but for the last three decades of his life, he sustained an incredible painting practice making eight hundred works that bridge music, physics (both astrophysics and quantum physics), and the spiritual condition of contemporary humanity. Already considered a major artist of the California modern movement and in collection at the Museum of Modern Art, the Tate Modern, the Guggenheim, LACMA, SFMOMA, and other important institutions, this too little known pioneer will finally get his due.
