And it has been the pre vailing opinion, that it is commonly produced in this way. The grounds for a different belief will be given shortly, and in the mean time it may be observed, that only those cases of hemoptysis are produced by rup ture in which some external violence has been applied, or where there has been some very violent oorts of respiration, as in coughing.
