Johann Jacob Schmidt (1788-1831) and his wife Anna Katharina Becker (b. 1786) lived in Hatterode, Germany. Between 1838 and 1840, Katharina and her children immigrated to Upper Canada (Ontario). Descendants live in Ontario, Alberta and elsewhere in Canada.
