
Since its creation in 1973, the Office of the Health Service Commissioner has been a valuable ally for aggrieved patients of the National Health Service. This inquiry looked at complaints received in 1990 and found an increase of 25 per cent on the previous year. Possible reasons for this increase are examined and plans to improve the running of the Commissioner's office are outlined in this report.
