"EEG technology has changed significantly since its discovery in 1924 by Hans Berger (Berger, 1929). Digital EEG devices with an adequate number of amplifiers are available at relatively low cost. Digital recording allows us to change the montage, the filters, and the amplification of the EEG channels after the actual recording session has been completed. This allows us to display and analyze the EEG optimally after the recording. Besides, the ability to store large amount of digital data and the advances in computer analysis of EEG data is being used most effectively in the analysis of continuous EEG/video recordings. All these developments call for an innovative, new approach to electroencephalography"--
