Certification of origin of Canadian forest tree seeds developed to control forest reproductive materials moving in international trade began in 1970 under a scheme established by the Council of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). Certification of quality of Canadian tree seeds under the International Seed Testing Association's (ISTA) rules began in 1974. This report gives a summary of these programs from 1981-85, including quantities, types and amounts, as well as international and national liaison.
