This book has special appeal to students of and practitioners in business and industry who need to apply more advanced techniques such as data mining, statistical process control (SPC) for time-dependent data, and profile monitoring. The purpose of the book is to provide a complete and thorough development and explanation of advanced quality control techniques not currently and/or readily available under one cover. It represents a marriage between theory and methods for practitioners and researchers alike. Two unique features include the emphasis on commercially available software, as well as freeware such as R, and the inclusion of service sector applications. Discussions of potential problems or pitfalls with certain methodologies are also provided in an effort to reinforce the applicability of the subject matter. Extensive use of pedagogy is employed from an elaborate graphics presentation to the use of computer subroutines to enhanced video clips and PowerPoint® slides that are provided (on a gratis basis) online for selected key concepts in the book.
