About the Author Douglas A. Bernstein is Professor Emeritus at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, where he served for many years as director of the introductory psychology program. He is currently Courtesy Professor of Psychology at The University of South Florida, and a consultant at Ecole de Psychologues Praticiens in Paris. From the early 1980s until 2013, Dr. Bernstein led the Program Committee of the National Institute on the Teaching of Psychology (NITOP). He is also the Founder of the Association for Psychological Science's Preconvention Institute on the Teaching of Psychology as well as of the Preconvention Teaching Institute for the APS biannual International Convention of Psychological Science. He was the co-organizer of a French National Conference on the Teaching of Psychology that took place in Paris in 2016. In 2002 he received the American Psychological Foundation's award for Distinguished Teaching in Psychology.
