This book commemorates over 50 years of Walton Pier Bowl from its heyday in the early 1960's when it joined a wave of interest in the new sport and leisure activity of tenpin bowling in the United Kingdom. The book charts its history with testimonials and memories from those who embraced the new sport, and contains numerous photographs. It will serve as an archive of material for Walton on the Naze and form part of the heritage of the seaside town on the Essex coast. A small bowling alley situated on a funfair seaside pier over the North Sea in East Essex at the popular holiday resort of Walton on the Naze it quickly established itself as a popular place to learn to play and compete in this new sport. The tiny 9 lane Bowl produced Regional and National champions, two England team players and the current World Champion Dom Barrett.
