Photographic pioneer George Washington Wilson set up his business in Aberdeen in the 1850s, establishing himself with royal commissions at nearby Balmoral and recording the countryside, people, towns and villages along the Dee Valley over the following decades. This nostalgic collection includes many of his images and also recalls the stories of notable local people and events of the later 19th century to paint a picture of Victorian Deeside.
