This work provides a detailed examination of sports and law issues within the socio-economic and cultural context of the role that sport plays in society. It reflects the growth and importance of sports law as a distinct area of legal inquiry. Guidance has been obtained from a number of international sports law writers, including Professor John Barnes at the University of Western Ontario, author of Sports and the Law in Canada, and Professor Martin Greenberg, Director of the National Sports Law Institute at Marquette University in Milwaukee and author of Sports Law Practice.
