
A coming of age story of an autistic boy who teaches crows to count, read and even use a tablet computer, Autistic Crow Computer was written for teen and young adult autistic readers. The main character is autistic and strong, he knows himself, and pursues odd hobbies with pride, aware and proud of his obsessiveness. The book is edgy, even tense and dark. Not all of it, and it has no sexual content. The ages of 12-22 are hard for everyone, especially someone on the spectrum. This story gives a sense of what is at stake at that age -what people in that age can see as great battles- and through this fictional character a troubled autistic youth can see that others are grappling with similar challenges and questions. Autistic Crow Computer posits a neglected vantage point in public policy discussions: what if the modern industrial and information-driven world is the ideal environment for autistics to succeed and lead self sufficient lives?
