The skill set that every Artificial Intelligence Engineer should posses is expected to include a working knowledge of statistics. This is especially true for those working with big data. In many ways the statistics skills are very different from those of an applied mathematician, The latter focuses on model creation and precision, whereas the statistician focuses on the inference of useful information drawn from huge amounts of processed data. Now the Artificial Intelligence engineer is expected to draw on both skill sets of an applied mathematician and a statistician. Both fields provide prediction as an outcome which is often the requirement of the Artificial Intelligence engineer.
