This volume in the Challenges in Machine Learning series gathers the best contributions from the 2010 Active Learning Challenge competition and the associated workshop on Active Learning and Experimental Design held in conjunction with AISTATS 2010, which gathered academic and industry researchers belonging to the various communities of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Statistics and Data Mining.
