Coram's children is based on the life stories of 24 former pupils of the Foundling Hospital. This book provides a fascinating account of what it was like to grow up in the care of one of the oldest children's charities. The men and women who took part in this study also discussed their perceptions of how their early experiences influenced their adult lives in terms of work, marriage and parenthood. Some of the themes that emerged in this study - such as the importance of positive and caring relationships between adults and children, particularly in their early years - are relevant to contemporary concerns about the care of looked after children.
