Gaius Julius Caesar (July 100 BC - 15 March 44 BC) was a Roman general,statesman, Consul, and notable author of Latin prose. He played a criticalrole in the events that led to the demise of the Roman Republic and therise of the Roman Empire During his lifetime, Caesar was regarded as one of the best orators andprose authors in Latin-even Cicero spoke highly of Caesar's rhetoric andstyle. Only Caesar's war commentaries, however, have survived to modern day. Included in this collection are all the surviving war commentaries.
