What gives anyone the right to rule over others, when “All people are created equal”? What did John Adams mean when he called America “a nation of sovereign people, beholden to none save one another and the laws they establish”? These are burning questions nowadays, as tyranny and conflict escalate across the world. They are some of the issues at the heart of this new book by Kevin Annett and five other contributors, entitled “Governing Ourselves: A Handbook on Personal, Political, and Spiritual Sovereignty.” Drawing on many years of experience in courtrooms and front-line battles for justice, the authors explore the theory and practice of self-governance and how it is manifesting today in a global movement to establish sovereign Republics and their common law courts. The contributors include indigenous elders, judicial scholars, and members of the global Republic Alliance movement that unites sovereignty and common law activists on four continents. This book is compiled by Kevin Annett under the auspices of the sovereign Republic of Kanata and the International Common Law Court of Justice, that helped to force the resignation of ‘Pope Benedict’ from his office in February 2013.
