Postmodernity, explains J.I. Packer, "is popularly equated with a denial that there is any such thing as universal public truth, the idea being that there is only my truth and your truth, that which is true for me and that which is true for you, but there is no truth that is true for everybody." In February of 1998, six Canadian Anglican scholars paused to consider the various challenges of postmodernism at a Western Theological Conference entitled "The Way of Truth in the Present Age," sponsored by the Prayer Book Society of Canada and held at St. John's (Shaughnessy) Church in Vancouver. All six addressed the problems associated with affirming Christianity today in a culture that has become increasingly skeptical of all truth claims. Although written within the context of the Anglican Communion and directed primarily to an Anglican audience, the addresses have been published together in this volume as they concern matters that are of pressing relevance to all Christians today. --!
