Dr. Hall's first volume recounted the eventful story of two generations of medical missionaries in Korea. It covered the period from 1890, when his parents were among the pioneer missionaries to that country, until the Japanese forced the second generation of Halls to leave Korea in December 1940. This sequel volume picks up the narrative as they depart for a new mission assignment at a TB sanatorium in India. It chronicles their productive and adventuresome years of service there until Sherwood Hall reached the mandatory retirement age of seventy on November 10, 1963, and the Doctors Hall returned to the West. They retired to Canada where they continued very active lives, and where Sherwood Hall took up his pen. He and his wife, and many of his readers, were eagerly looking forward to the publication of the "India phase" of his memoirs. But Sherwood and Marian, and many of those patient readers, passed on to their heavenly home before this volume could be completed. The exciting account that was their legacy is now being presented posthumously in order that another generation of readers might be inspired and encouraged by their saga. The author's fondest hope was that perhaps some of his readers might discover God's call on their lives to begin a similar adventure. About the author: Sherwood Hall, M.D., FCCP, was born in Seoul, Korea in 1893 to William James Hall, M.D. and Rosetta Sherwood Hall, M.D. Sherwood and his wife, Dr. Marian B. Hall served in Asia as medical missionaries under the American Methodist Church from 1924 to 1963. He was elected a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians in 1948. Dr. Hall and his wife both died in 1991.
