
A search in the Peruvian Desert, 2000 feet into the foothills of the Andies, turns up 5-10 million year-old articulated whales, seals, dolphins and sharks. Renz photographs these long dead creatures and interviews paleo experts who have concluded that today's great white shark evolved from an ancient mako. The transition took place 4-5 million years ago in what was a deep salt-water lagoon.
