This video is a resource for any parish that wants to begin celebrating the liturgy of the word with children or wishes to evaluate and enhance their current celebration. See how children at one parish process from the assembly to celebrate their own liturgy of the word with ritual words, singing, and gestures. Listen as the lay presider proclaims the scriptures from the Lectionary for Masses with Children and preaches to the children. All of this is seen in the context of the entrance rite, the dismissal, and the childrens participation in the liturgy of the Eucharist with the larger assembly. Through interviews with children, religious educators, parents, presiders, members of the assembly, and the pastor you learn how this liturgy evolved; why the Contemporary English Version of the childrens Lectionary is used; how leaders are chosen and formed; how this liturgy differs from catechesis; and what effect this liturgy has on the entire parish. A leaders guide is included. Produced with the assistance of the American Bible Society.
