Among the great collectors of twentieth - century art, The Museum of Modern Art in New York is an institution dedicated to exhibiting and interpreting a complete range of modern art, from Impressionism to the contemporary visual arts. Among its exemplary holdings, the Museum's collection of Pop art defines a pivotal era in American art, the 1960s, and is shaped by works from such renowned artists as Andy Warhol, Jim Dine, Roy Lichtenstein, Claes Oldenburg, and James Rosenquist. Now, four decades later, this period of raw energy and unsurpassed creativity will be experienced by a new audience at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta. At Philip Morris, we are pleased to sponsor the presentation of The Museum of Modern Art's excellent collection of Pop art at the High Museum of Art, where we have had several other successful collaborations, including most recently Picasso: Masterworks from The Museum of Modern Art. The present exhibition, Pop Art: Selections from The Museum of Modern Art, continues a tradition of funding at Philip Morris beginning with our earliest exhibition sponsorship in 1965, Pop and Op.
